Planned Reading for November

Well I've had such a bad October when it comes to reading! Usually I read about 8 or 9 books a month, but this was down to 4 in September and only 1 in October. Very bad times indeed! I have been so busy at work and added to this there is a restructure happening in my section which is impacting on my job and I've been feeling so stressed that my reading has suffered. It's a real shame as one of my favourite ways to unwind is reading but if I'm very stressed I have trouble settling into a story and enjoying it. However, I am hopeful that things will improve this month as projects come to a close and the restructure is settled one way or another and then I can get back to more reading time!

Aside from the lovely books that I've had planned and haven't got to yet, there are a couple of other things I'd like to read this month.

Book Cover - The Falmouth Connection by Joana Starnes
Firstly, I'm planning on reading Joana Starnes' new Pride & Prejudice variation, The Falmouth Connection. In this tale, Darcy doesn't get to propose to Elizabeth at Hunsford as she gets called away to a relative in Cornwall. I have a feeling that I have heard that there are smugglers in this story! It sounds like something a bit different. I've really enjoyed all of Joana's stories (here are links to my reviews of The Subsequent Proposal, a Pride & Prejudice/Persuasion crossover, and The Second Chance which is a P&P variation featuring characters from Sense & Sensibility) so I'm hopeful I'll enjoy this one too.

Book Cover - Mr Darcy's Christmas Calendar by Jane Odiwe
The other book I hope to read is Mr Darcy's Christmas Calendar by Jane Odiwe. This sounds like such a fun read, featuring a special advent calendar which transports our heroine to the characters of Pride & Prejudice where Mr Darcy is not only missing from the plot but Jane Austen has never heard of him!

I hope you have some nice reads lined up this month too!

I want to start my christmas reading, as I´m very slow with books since Baby A is here lol. A christmas must-read for me is Trisha Ashleys Twelve Days of Christmas. Looking forward to reading Talli Rolands new novella Married by Midnight and Jane Odiwes Mr. Darcy Christmas Calender!

    1. It's amazing how much time a baby takes up isn't it Katrin. You wonder what you did with all the time you had pre-baby! I want to get some Christmas reads in too, I love a bit of feelgood reading. Hope your lovely little Baby A is well! Have you got her any Austen-inspired board books yet?! By the time I'd seen these books my babies were too old for them :(

  4. I feel very behind in my reading, too. Lately I feel like if I have too much on my to-do list I can't relax enough to read. I am planning to read these same two books. I also plan to read A Father's Sins and Christmas with Jane. Beyond that is anyone's guess!

    1. That's exactly how I have been too Monica, too unsettled to read! Things appear to be settling down now though, thankfully. I'll be interested to know what you make of the two books, let me know once you've read them!

    3. Yes, that was the one I thought you meant, it looks good. I am not a huge fan of short stories generally but I usually like Christmas short stories. I hope you enjoy the book :)

  6. So sorry to hear you're having a tough time, Ceri, especially with the restructuring at work. I went through something like that a while ago and I know it's not pretty :( Hope it will all settle down and you'll get what you want & need out of this messy business. Thanks for mentioning my book, I hope you'll like it. Good luck and hope the clouds go away soon xx

    1. Thank you Joana. I should hopefully know a bit more by the end of next week, it'll be good for the uncertainty to be over, even if it's not the outcome I'm hoping for. I am generally an optimistic person so I like to think whatever happens will probably turn out for the best long term :)

I'm looking forward to reading your book, I plan to start that this week!
