Planned Reading for March 2016

Welshcakes - yummy
Welshcakes... mmmm
Hurrah! It's March! I love March. And the reason that I love it is that in March, I can believe that my favourite season, Spring, is coming. Today is also St David's Day. St David is the patron saint of Wales, my country. Happy St David's Day, or Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus!

If you have access to Welshcakes you should eat them now. They have no calories on St David's Day (Disclaimer: this may not be true!).

Now we are settled in with a snack, let me tell you about what I plan to read this month.

Book Covers: George Knightley Esquire duology by Barbara Cornthwaite
Firstly, the Austenesque TBR group on Goodreads is planning a group read that I hope to take part in. It's a book I've been meaning to read since I first found out about JAFF so I am pleased to have some impetus to add it to the top of the TBR. It is 'Emma' from Mr Knightley's point of view, 'George Knightley Esquire: Charity Envieth Not'. That is the first book in this duology, so hopefully I can read the second book too, 'George Knightely Esquire: Lend Me Leave'. If you would like to join in the group read, please do, everybody is welcome.

Book cover: Jane Austen Lives Again by Jane Odiwe
I also plan to read the latest book by Jane Odiwe, 'Jane Austen Lives Again' which sees Jane Austen living in the roaring 20s. I am not sure exactly how this happens, but I will find out when I read the book!

Blog Tour - A Searing Acquaintance by J L Ashton
I have some catchup reading to do, but I won't mention that in case I don't get to it :) Instead I will tell you that I hope to have some visits this month. I am due to be part of the blog tour for 'A Searing Acquaintance'. I read this on A Happy Assembly and really enjoyed it. I would have liked to have read the published version this month, but with the group read I didn't want to commit to too much. The flipside of this is that the post here this month will be a giveaway post, so make sure you come back for that. I am also due to welcome another Meryton Press blog tour, and am expecting a visit from an author who has a new book coming out. I hope can join me for all of these visits!

What do you have planned in to read this month? Whatever you choose, I hope you enjoy it!

    1. Yes, thank you so much for that Claudine! I am glad you are joining in the group read too :)

  4. I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy Jane Austen Lives Again, Ceri. I've recently finished reading it and it was a 5 one for me.

This month, I have Persuade Me on audio to finish and will probably follow that with Juliet Stevenson's narration of North and South. I'm running out of JAFF audios!

Book-wise, I've got a collection of Rose Fairbanks short stories, Love Lasts Longest, up next on my Kindle, then I'm switching to paperbacks as I've a number of giveaway prizes stacked up on my bedside table. Not sure how many I'll get through but starting with Aerendgast by Rachel Berman, then Haunting Mr. Darcy by Karalynne Mackrory, Rainy Days by Lory Lilian, Longbourn's Songbird by Beau North, An Obstinate Headstrong Girl by Abigail Bok and see where they get me to in the month. Still loads of stuff on my Kindle!

    1. Me too, I am confident that I'll never get through all the books on my kindle! Funnily enough I've read quite a few of the books you have in paperback, you have some good reading ahead :) I hope your back isn't too painful, and the reading helps distract you from it.

  5. Happy St. David's Day! I'll have to look it up so I can learn more about it. The Welsh cakes look yummy.

Yay! I'm excited about the group read for the same reason. I've wanted to read GK: Charity Envieth Not for some time and now I've got peer pressure to motivate me. :)

I'm part of a month long TBR Readathon so I'm focusing on older books from my shelves though I do have a couple new release review books to get through as well. But along with Charity Envieth Not, I'm hoping to read two Georgette Heyer mysteries.

Have a lovely reading month. :)

    1. I missed this comment, Sophia, or I'd have replied. I hope you enjoy the Heyer mysteries. I have read a few of them but I didn't like them all that much. In themselves they are fine, but other people do that genre better, whereas her Regency romances really shine.

  6. Oh the Welsh cakes look yummy. Do you put syrup on them like we do on pancakes here (maple syrup)? I haven't heard of these two Knightley books that you and the group are going to read. I will have to check them out and add them to my very long wishlist. You should love 'Jane Austen Lives Again'. It is a 5 Star for me! I am finishing up 'Pride and Proposals' by Victoria Kincaid. Haven't decided which of my books on my TBR list on my Kindle I will read next. Though I think I will read 'Austen in Austin' that I recently won on a giveaway! Looking forward to the 'Searing Acquaintance' blog tour!

    1. Hi Carole! No, we don't have syrup with them. They may look pancake-y but they are a much heavier consistency. They are fried, but from a dough rather than a batter, kind of along the lines of a fried sweet scone. They usually say on recipes that you can have them with butter or jam, but I don't know anybody who would do this, we just have them plain, although they are often sprinkled with sugar.

I hope I enjoy 'Jane Austen Lives Again' as much as you and Anji did! I have 'Austen in Austin' to read too, I'm looking forward to that one as well.

  7. Hi, Ceri! The Welsh Cakes look yummy! We had pancakes yesterday, too! ;) Lol!

I just finished reading 'Denial of Conscience' by Cat Gardiner. I loved it! It was my first Austenesque book of the year. :/ I've been reading through the Harry Potter series for the first time which has been taking a lot of my reading time. Some of those books are so long! Plus, I've signed up for the Uppercase Book Box, and I'm making myself read each book before the next book shows up in the mail. I'm enjoying them, and I love getting a bookish surprise every month! :)

Happy Reading! I hope you enjoy your month!

    1. Hi Candy! I saw from Goodreads that you were reading Harry Potter. I first read the series when there were only four books out and they were the four shortest so it wasn't so hard to catch up.

I hope you have a good reading month too!

  8. Ooh those Welshcakes look yummy! They look like my mom's blueberry pancakes! Lol I think I need to see a video blog of you speaking Welsh - or just speaking in general - I love people with accents.

I'm so behind on my blog visits and my reading. I have no idea what I'll pick up next. I've been meaning to ask if you've been reading An Unexpected Harvest at AHA?

    1. I think most people would be disappointed if I was to video blog, Monica, they'd be expecting me to sound like something out of an Austen adaptation and my accent is nothing like that :)

The welsh cakes do look like pancakes in the pic but they are much denser...yummy though!

I haven't been reading much on AHA lately, I will try and check out An Unexpected Harvest though, because you have great taste in fanfic!

    2. Well, since you loved Sanctuary I thought you'd like something else by the same author. I'm really enjoying it but I don't live and breathe and salivate for the updates as much as I did with her previous two. Lol I remember ducking into the bathroom at work many times to read her Wednesday updates of Dance the Tide!

    3. I have caught up with 'An Unexpected Harvest' and I'm enjoying it, I like that they've switched roles so that Elizabeth is the misunderstood one causing offence. I know what you mean, though, 'Sanctuary' had so much deep feeling in it, and they both had such baggage, and of course there was also an element of danger, which made it a bit more riveting, but this one is very good too, thanks for the recommendation!
