Hello everybody, and happy September! How is it September already?! Where is the time going? I have to say though, I love September. I am not a big fan of summer usually, and if you've seen my colouring you will understand why, so most years the autumn comes as a bit of a relief, though this year the summer in the UK has been pretty non-existent. The autumn always makes me think of that line from 'You've Got Mail' because I, too, always feel the urge to buy stationery. Here is a bouquet of newly-sharpened pencils for you :)
You may be wondering how my August catch-up went. Well I will tell you; not very well! I worked less days each week so I could spend time with my children during their school holidays but this didn't allow any more reading time. I hope to continue my catch up this month, or more accurately, begin it :) So what else do I have planned?
The blog tour for the new book by KaraLynne Mackrory 'Yours Forevermore Darcy' will be stopping by this month. I will be reviewing the book and KaraLynne will be stopping by with a guest post and ebook giveaway. This book sounds very romantic. We all know that Darcy can express himself more fully on paper than verbally, after he's had time to digest and consider - think of his letter to Elizabeth and how much it says compared to how little he said to her in person and how ill-considered his proposal speech was. Well, what if he poured his heart out about his feelings in letters to Elizabeth that he never intends to send. They could be very dangerous in the wrong hands - and very powerful in the right ones.
I'm looking forward to reading this one. I really enjoyed KaraLynne's previous books. Most people seem to favour 'Haunting Mr Darcy: A Spirited Courtship' but my personal favourite of her books is 'Bluebells in the Mourning'.
I also plan to read a Victorian murder mystery by Frances Evesham, called 'Danger at Thatcham Hall' which sees a lawyer and the governess of Thatcham Hall coming together to investigate the death of a farm hand. I enjoy reading cozy mysteries and I haven't read one in ages, so it will be good to exercise my little grey cells and see if I can work out what is going on before everything is revealed.
I hope you have some good reads lined up this month. What are you planning to read?
Sounds like you have a lovely month ahead of you, Ceri! I am not sure what I will read this month. Right now, I'm rereading (for the umpteenth time :P) Pride and Prejudice. I love reading it every year. After I finish that book, I will probably reread Northanger Abbey for a group read on Goodreads. And then I'd love to read Mr. Darcy's Rival by Kara Louise. Happy reading! :)
ReplyDeleteYou have some lovely reading lined up Maria! I hope to read some Austen soon. I have been meaning to reread 'Sense and Sensibility' for a while, it has been many years since I last read it. I hope you enjoy rereading your Austen :)
DeleteHope you had a lovely time with your kiddos, Ceri! Love that quote from You've Got Mail! Looking forward to seeing your reviews, my friend!
