Planned Reading for December 2015

We're coming to the close of the year already! I don't quite know where this year has gone, I feel like it's gone by so fast. I had a mini-panic about a week and a half ago because all I'd bought for Christmas was advent calendars, but this has since been sorted. I may not be good at many things, but when I set my mind to Christmas shopping I get the job done!

Obviously though, with the coming of Christmas I generally have less reading time, because of all the extra preparations, and wrapping that I have to do (sob!) so I won't plan in much this month as I don't think I'll achieve it.


Book cover: Then Comes Winter AnthologyFirstly, I have another Meryton Press blog tour stopping by: 'Then Comes Winter' is a new anthology which features stories with a winter flavour and a nod to Austen. They are written by a variety of authors including well-established authors, new authors who featured in the 'Sunkissed; Effusions of Summer' anthology and some authors that are new to me. My stop on the blog tour is a review, but as with all of Meryton Press blog tours there will be stops with chances to win a copy of the book which I will link for you.

I would really like to read something 'Emma' related this month. It seems only fitting, as 'Emma' was published 200 years ago this month. I believe it was published on Christmas day, though the first editions apparently have a publishing date of January 1816. I've read 'Emma' quite a few times, though not in the last few years, I've had so much else to read since I discovered the Austenesque genre that I haven't had much chance to revisit my old favourites.

Do you have any good reads lined up this month, or will you be too busy to fit anything much in? Either way, I wish you a wonderful December, and a Happy Christmas, if you celebrate it.

    Woohoo! Way to get that shopping done. I'm done, but now I need to wrap and ship to distant family. I'm not fond of wrapping. LOL

    Glad you plan to read TCW. A planned Emma read for the anniversary is a great idea. I read a few this year with Emma themes, but I haven't re-read the actual Emma in several years.

    I've got Colonel Fitzwilliam and the Countess of Saint Toulours, Knights of Derbyshire, and Prejudice & Pride up for this month. Hopefully, I'll get to them. ;)

      Good luck with the wrapping. I haven't wrapped anything yet. What I usually do is put a Christmas film on the DVD player, get myself a glass or two of Baileys and just power through; even though it gives me a bad back at least it's done!

    I am sure you will enjoy Then Comes Winter...I did. I do wish some of the stories would be expanded though.

      I quite often find that with short stories, Sheila, sometimes there just isn't the space to do them justice.

    When my children were younger I remember staying up very late wrapping gifts. Then I learned to wrap them earlier in the month after they went to bed. Of course I had a good hiding place. Now I don't have as much to wrap.

      I think you only get caught out doing things last minute once, Sheila, we had a very late night one Christmas eve putting things together once - never again! Now I usually do it earlier in the month :)
