Planned Reading for June 2016

Hello everybody! It's starting to feel like summer here. Obviously, with my colouring, summer is mainly about finding shade to hide in, but I still like it, because it's nice to read outside for a change :) I have a really busy month lined up here; I hope you'll be able to join me for at least some of the following:

Firstly, I am joining Sophia Rose, one of the contributing authors to the Meryton Press anthologies, 'Sunkissed: Effusions of Summer', and 'Then Comes Winter' on her author blog over on Goodreads, for a Sofa Chat. I hope you can drop by.

Book cover: The Elizabeth Papers by Jenetta James
Next up will be my stop on the blog tour for 'The Elizabeth Papers', the latest story from Jenetta James, author of 'Suddenly Mrs Darcy'. This story is set partly in the present, with flashbacks to the past showing Mr and Mrs Fitzwilliam Darcy. There is a mystery afoot too...

Book cover: Miss Darcy's Companion by Joana Starnes
I have the lovely Joana Starnes popping by with her new story, 'Miss Darcy's Companion', a 'Pride and Prejudice' variation which sees Miss Darcy getting a younger companion than Mrs Younge. Here, her companion is instead a recently bereaved Miss Elizabeth Bennet. If Elizabeth had met Mr Darcy in another situation, their relationship could easily have started with a very different dynamic. We know from 'Pride & Prejudice' that Darcy has different manners with people he feels very close to ("Miss Bingley told me," said Jane, "that he never speaks much, unless among his intimate acquaintance. With them he is remarkably agreeable."). How differently might Mr Darcy's character appear to Elizabeth? Well, we will find out!

Book cover: Jane Austen Lives Again by Jane Odiwe
I recently read 'Jane Austen Lives Again' by Jane Odiwe, where Jane Austen has, through a scientific breakthrough, woken alive and well in 1925. What might Miss Austen think of the changed times, and how will she fare as governess to five sisters? I will be sharing my review of this book with you this month, and I am pleased to tell you that Jane Odiwe will be visiting too.

There is another blog tour dropping by too - Caitlin Williams, author of 'Ardently' will be coming by with a guest post in relation to her new book, 'The Coming of Age of Elizabeth Bennet'. Claudine over at the Just Jane 1813 blog has arranged the blog tour and she is revealing the cover of this story today, hence I have no pic to link here!

Book cover: Holidays with Jane: Summer of Love
The fourth 'Holidays with Jane' book is coming out this month! If you are unfamiliar with the series, each of the books are collections of six stories, each written by a different author, and each one a modern story based on one of Austen's major works. There has been a Christmas one, Spring Fever and Trick or Sweet and the latest installment is 'Holidays with Jane; Summer of Love'.

Book Cover: Hope for Mr Darcy by Jeanna Ellsworth
Jeanna Ellsworth is dropping by with a guest post relating to her new book, 'Hope for Mr. Darcy'. This is the first book in the 'Hope' trilogy, all of which are due to be published this year. The stories deal with hope providing a light to guide people through their darkest times, starting with Mr Darcy and moving on in the subsequent books to his cousin, Colonel Fitzwilliam, and sister, Miss Darcy.

Phew! This is just what I hope to bring you, I plan to read some other things too, all being well. I really hope you can join me to welcome my visitors to the blog.

Do you have anything exciting planned for this month? Let me know what you're hoping to read in the comments below!

  3. Yes! It's a busy month indeed for both you and me! Along with blog tours, I am going to try to catch up on all the reviews I should have written over the school year. I'm hoping all the notes I've scribbled down will be enough to get the job done! Lol! Enjoy your Summer!

    1. Hi Candy, hope it goes well. I wrote up a review the other day which I'd scrawled in a notebook and I was surprised how well it turned out. I hope your notes turn out to have everything you need to catch up on your reviews!

  6. It's a lovely list of books and looks a lot like my TBR pile. The weather is terrible and will keep us indoors, but hey, gives us more time to read and like you, I just go red anyway.

Great reading list! I so enjoyed 'Jane Austen Lives Again'! I plan to read all the others you have listed as well. I won 'Hope for Mr. Darcy', so I am just waiting for that one to arrive. Today I received 'The Suspicion at Sandition' by Carrie Bebris! I plan to start reading that one tonight. I have read all her others. Enjoy!
